After several high-profile exits from Microsoft, Unity, Amazon and others, the Game Developers organizer have “postponed” the March gathering in San Francisco.
According to the GDC website, officials made the decision after consulting partners in the development community and others around the world. Fears over the coronavirus was a major reason for the move. The illness has been spreading in the Bay Area and causing worry over the health of attendees and exhibitors. Other tech events such as Facebook’s F8 conference have already been canceled.
GDC is a big event for the games industry and is often a place where big announcements are made and experimental titles make their debut. It’s also where developers offer insight into how fan-favorite games are made.
