Controversial Neuralink studies may impact brain tech developments globally as Elon Musk's lack of detail on trials continues to 'sidestep' open discussion amid controversial testing.

Elon Musk's controversial Neuralink has come under fire as experts warn it could set brain tech back year.

A potentially brewing ethical scandal and concerning results from animal testing has seen experts call for transparency in the now running human trials. Patient safety concerns were aired, as Musk allegedly continues to "sidestep" open discussion.

The concerning lack of information and distribution of information through tweets on the Musk-owned X platform (formerly Twitter), has seen experts flag Neuralink's troubling updates, and it could prevent access for other researchers in brain tech development.

Speaking to Forbes, Marcello Ienca, a professor of ethics of AI and neuroscience at Technical University of Munich, said: "What truly puzzles me about this is not the technology itself but the way of communicating scientific news."

Professor Ienca went on to suggest the Neuralink testing process could "backfire" for the brain tech research community as a whole. He added: "If you decide to play with fire in a house, you increase the risk threshold not only of yourself but of the whole house.

"My fear is that Neuralink's disregard for the ethical aspects of their technology may cause a backfire effect for the entire neurotechnology community." The stakes are extremely high, with Professor Ienca warning "scandal" was not an option when it came to testing "the human brain".
