IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Richard Dean Jordan, a former doctor, was arrested and accused of crimes in Alexander and Iredell counties.

Alexander County deputies first arrested Jordan, who was a licensed medical doctor at the time, on April 4.

Detectives say they got a cyber tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and charged Jordan with four counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The sheriff says the charge is for either downloading or creating child pornography.

Several days later, Alexander County Sheriff’s deputies called Iredell County detectives.

“He (Jordan) set up these cameras in a house that he was not living in,” said Major Troy Miller with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Miller says detectives found video cameras Jordan had placed in the bathroom at a house in Statesville.

“The evidence we recovered showed this started happening back in January, for a few months he had been secretly peeping on his family members without their knowledge, and so I’m sure it was quite a shock to those family members when they found out what was going on,” said Miller.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jordan on seven counts of felony secret peeping, and on April 11, Alexander County added more charges against Jordan: one count of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of indecent liberties with a minor.

Online records show Jordan became licensed as a medical doctor in December 2023, and he had admitting privileges at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He voluntarily surrendered his license on April 10, less than a week after his first arrest.

The Alexander County Sheriff says detectives are still searching Jordan’s devices, and there could be more charges.

He remains in the Alexander County jail under a $595,000 bond.

Queen City News got a statement Wednesday afternoon from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem:

Once we were notified by law enforcement, we took immediate action to place him on administrative leave per our policies and on April 11 his employment was ended. The charges are of deep concern, and at this time, we have no reason to believe any of the alleged activities occurred in our facilities.
