God's very first commandment (Genesis 1:22) is to the birds, whales, fish, and other creatures to “be fruitful and multiply” and fill the seas and the skies. His first Commandment to humans (Genesis 1:28) is to “replenish the earth … and have dominion” over other creatures.
When we understand the roots of science (pagan beliefs and traditions), we can then understand why such horrific human treatments such as eugenics and those treatments that result in death or the diminishment of life rather than the enhancement of it. Understanding the roots of modern western medicine should give us pause to understand how it relates to our beliefs and how we make health care decisions.
The poor and the weak are the very populations God seeks to protect and heal. Often these very populations are the subject of cruel, uninformed and involuntary medical experiments and treatments.
How do you make medical decisions? Do you consult your beliefs? Do you consult leaders in your faith? Why? Why not?
