IT company Infosys' step-down subsidiary Infosys McCamish Systems has been hit by a cyber attack, the company said in a regulatory filing on Friday.
The cyber incidents led to non-availability of certain applications and systems in Infosys McCamish Systems.
"Infosys McCamish Systems, a subsidiary of Infosys BPM Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Infosys Limited), has become aware of a cybersecurity event resulting in non-availability of certain applications and systems in IMS," the company said.
Infosys said it is working with a leading cybersecurity products provider to resolve the issue.
"Data protection and cybersecurity are of utmost importance to us. We are working with a leading cybersecurity products provider to resolve this at the earliest and have also launched an independent investigation with them to identify potential impact on systems and data," the filing said.
There has been a drastic increase in the number of cyberattacks this year. Last month, a report had claimed a significant data breach, where the personal information of approximately 815 million Indians had been exposed and offered for sale on the dark web, according to a report by the US-based cybersecurity firm Resecurity. The compromised data included sensitive information like Aadhaar and passport details, alongside names, phone numbers, and addresses. This breach had raised concerns owing to the extensive scope and the nature of the compromised database, with indications suggesting a potential link to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Meanwhile, some days back several opposition leaders reported receiving alerts from Apple warning of potential state-sponsored attackers trying to compromise their iPhones remotely. There is a growing concern surrounding cybersecurity, as cyberattacks continue to rise both domestically and globally.
