Cooking Lemons, Cooking Clean and Cooking Zero Waste. Cooking lemons that are fresh from your garden that you have grown organically is the start of this process of cooking clean and zero waste. Now that you have grown your fruit (lemons) organically and picked them fresh from your garden, you are prepared to cook your harvested lemons Zero Waste. There are several ways to cook foods zero waste. The following is just one Zero Waste process for cooking Lemons. Continue to be creative and think about what foods you would like to harvest from your garden fresh foods.
Cooking Zero Waste
Lemon Juice
1. Lemond Juice. Squeeze Your Lemons for all the Juice you can get from the fruit.
2. Cook the Lemon for Lemon Paste. Remove the membrane and the harvesting nob from the branch. Use these items for composting.
Lemon Paste Recipe
Ten Lemon rinds remaining from the jucied lemons, cut in quaters with the rind removed.
Cook on low-medium heat or 1 hour in 3 Cups of Water and 1 1/2 Cups Sugar.
Add 1/4 Cup chopped cilantro.
Use seive to pour lemon juice or broth from lemon paste cooking pot. Place lemon rinds drained of lemon juice/'broth' in food processor. Pulse to a fine paste. Place in mason jar and it keeps in refrigerator for about 2 - 3 weeks.
Lemon Juice/'Broth'
Take the juice or lemon broth remaining from cooking the lemon paste and use in a soup of your choice.
