Everyone has heard of SEO or Search Engine Optimization. But, what is SEM? SEM is Search Engine Marketing. SM or Search Marketing is currently and more commonly used as an umbrella term encompassing SEO and SEM. SEO is typically used to describe organic or unpaid search marketing efforts while SEM typically includes paid search marketing efforts like PPC or Pay Per Click.
When developing an overall Brand and Marketing Strategy it can be helpful to start small. It can also be effective to have a mix of both SEO and SEM to realize an effective search marketing strategy.
