  • fashion’s new It-girl

By Amy Francombe March 9, 2022 Source: Evening Standard Photo Source: Marissa Grootes Meet Eve Jobs — the Apple founder’s youngest daughter Naomi Campbell is her mentor and she’s just been signed by Emily Ratajkowski’s modelling agency. Amy Francombe charts the rise of Silicon Valley’s coolest new kid on the block Move over Kaia Geber , Lila Moss and Iris Law . The newest nepotism baby on the block: Eve Jobs – the daughter of late Apple founder Steve Jobs . Yesterday, the 23-year-old - the youngest of the billionaire’s four children - announced that she had signed with A-list agency DNA Model management. She posted the news on Instagram, sharing a moody polaroid portrait of herself with her 262,000 Instagram followers - including unofficial mentor Naomi Campbell and Bill Gates’ eldest daughter Jennifer Gates, who commented with a heart emoji. The agency, which also represents the New York Times best selling author Emily Ratajkowski , confirmed the news, saying it was “thrilled” to add Jobs to its star-studded books. “The young Californian is an accomplished equestrian and Stanford graduate, and we are very excited to help her launch her auspicious modelling career,” it said in a statement, a sure sign that Jobs’ career is set to explode. Indeed, the Gen-Z Ivy League graduate has all the hallmarks of an It-girl-in-waiting. Her Instagram is a mosaic of model shots, mirror selfies at glamorous events and jet-set snaps from Paris to Florence and on the family’s private yacht. The day before her big announcement, she was spotted on the front row at Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2022 show alongside A-listers including Emma Stone, Gemma Chan and Emma Chamberlain. This was far from Jobs’ first time on the catwalk circuit. Last December, she made her Paris Fashion Week debut in Coperini’s Spring/Summer 2022 show, sporting a neon green spandex T-shirt, a black crystal bedazzled skirt, white sunglasses and an Origami bag, which the show notes say was “inspired by the curving shape of the iPhone photo app icon” in an obvious nod to her late father. Around the same time, Jobs also starred in millennial makeup brand Glossier’s Christmas campaign alongside Euphoria star Sydney Sweeny and RuPaul’s Naomi Smalls. So how did the 23-year-old first get noticed and will she be following in her father’s famous footsteps? If her CV so far is anything to go by, it would certainly seem so. Like her pal Jennifer Gates, Jobs is a keen horse-rider, first sitting in the saddle at the age of two and beginning her professional training when she was just six-years-old. She went on to rank at number five out of 1,000 global contenders in Horse Sports’ under 25 age category, and has competed alongside Gates and other famous equestrians including Mary-Kate Olsen and Jessica Springsteen. Today, she trains in a private £11 million 3.5-acre ranch, complete with an air-conditioned barn big enough for 20 horses and a show-jumping rink in winter horse riding capital Wellington, Florida. A developer who sold the property said her mother, the businesswoman Laurene Powell, bought the ranch it in 2016 to help Jobs with her show-jumping career – noting it was conspicuously round the corner from Jennifer Gates’ estate. But despite her her family’s $21.7 billion wealth following Steve Jobs ’ death from pancreatic cancer in 2011, her mother Powell - currently the 35th richest person in the world - is keen for Eve and her siblings to forge their own careers rather than relying on inheritance. According to an interview with New York Times, she has no intention of passing along the family’s wealth. “I’m not interested in legacy wealth buildings, and my children know that,” she said. “Steve wasn’t interested in that. If I live long enough, it ends with me.” Powell’s youngest daughter recently graduated from Stanford, the university where where her parents met in October 1989 (her mother Powell reportedly arrived late for one of her father’s presentations and ended up sitting on the front row, catching his eye). And she’s not the only member of the Jobs clan to boast a promising career. Her half-sister Lisa, 43, (from Jobs’ previous relationship with a woman called Christann Brennan) is a Harvard-graduate who’s written for Vogue and The Oprah Magazine, while brother Reed, 30, is an rising politician and cancer researcher; and sister Erin, 26, is an aspiring architect. With a high-profile modelling career on the horizon, will Eve Jobs end up the wealthiest and most successful of all her siblings? Watch this space. Are you the next Eve? • All of the political fashion statements at Met Gala

By Melissa Roberto Source: Fox News Photo Source: Unsplash, History in HD The star-studded Met Gala was held on Monday night in New York City and while many stars dazzled with sparkly gowns and others in jaw-dropping, see-through outfits , there were several stars who used the red carpet to make daring political fashion statements. The gala, which raises money for the museum's Costume Institute, was pushed last year from its traditional May berth and morphed this year into a two-part affair. It coincides with the opening of "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion," the first of a two-part exhibition at the Met's Anna Wintour Costume Center. Democratic New York City Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney attended Monday's red carpet and made a statement for women's rights and equality. Her multi-colored dress showed support for the Equal Rights Amendment. She also carried a clutch that read "ERA YES." Billie Eilish stunned with a nude tulle dress which she says came with one condition before she wore it. The gorgeous gown, designed by Oscar de la Renta, symbolized the 19-year-old's animal rights activism. She thanked the designer for allowing her to make a grand entrance in the gown on Instagram, where she also revealed the designer's decision to go "completely fur-free." Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney attends The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute benefit gala celebrating the opening of the "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion" exhibition on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, in New York. Soccer Olympian Megan Rapinoe also showed up in an American-inspired ensemble in line with the gala's theme. She wore a bright red suit with a royal blue shirt underneath embellished with sparkly silver stars. She accessorized the look with a clutch that read, "IN GAY WE TRUST." Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez chose a sleek white Brother Vellies dress for the occasion that said "TAX THE RICH" in red lettering on the back. During an interview on the red carpet, Ocasio-Cortez said she and the dress's designer, Aurora James, discussed "what it means to be working-class women of color at the Met." "And we said, we can't just play along, but we need to break the fourth wall and challenge some of the institutions, and while the Met is known for its spectacle, we should have a conversation about it," Ocasio-Cortez said. The headline-making look attracted some mixed praise and criticism. Actor Michael Rapaport posted about it on social media writing, "Custom TAX THE RICH dress while at the most elitist event in the world. @AOC will soon be rich with a ginormous production deal from somewhere & done with Politics, guarantee it. Stop treating ANY of these people like celebrities they are public servants and work for us." Cara Delevingne Cara Delevingne made a political statement in white coveralls. Her fitted top said "Peg the Patriarchy." When speaking to Vogue about her look, the top model said "It's about women empowerment." "It's a bit like stick it to the man," she added. Nikkie de Jager Blogger Nikki Tutorials, also known as Nikkie de Jager, wore a turquoise tulle gown with adorned with colorful flowers and a bow near the bottom that read "pay it no mind." The message was a nod to activist and drag queen Marsha P. Johnson who has said those words when being questioned about gender. De Jager came out as transgender in early 2020. Daniel Levy "Schitt's Creek" star Daniel Levy took to social media to discuss his colorful LOEWE ensemble which was inspired by the LGBTQ+ community and artist David Wojnarovicz showing two men kissing. "But rather than feed on the message of hate, we wanted to celebrate queer love and visibility - acknowledging how hard artists like Wojnarovicz had to fight, while also presenting the imagery in a way that offered a hopeful message. Tonight, we’re celebrating the resilience, the love, and the joy of the community while honoring a crucial American voice that was taken from us too soon," Levy wrote . Saweetie Rapper Saweetie stunned in a red Christian Cowan dress full of crystals. The back featured a tribute to the Black American heritage flag and Fiipino flag. She told E! News , "That's what makes me an American girl." Which Shidonna Raven Fashion will you choose to make a statement? How will you style your garments? Why? Send us a picture ! • FASHION STAPLES THAT DEFINED EVERY DECADE Cont'd

By Jenna Curcio December 30, 2019 Source: CR Fashion Book Please contact us for republishing permission and citation formatting. Photo Source: Seed Stitch Pullover - Shidonna Raven Fashion. All Rights Reserved. Copyright. 1940S: BOILER SUITS In December 1941, the U.S. officially entered WWII. Thousands of men were drafted into the war, thus leaving a huge need for more women to enter the workforce. From office to factory jobs, women began taking over the positions previously occupied by men. These new positions required workwear clothing that was specifically designed for women's bodies. They began wearing boiler suits, or coveralls in occupations that required more physically demanding work. These boiler suits were typically made of denim or heavyweight cotton canvas, featured buttons down the front, and were generally loose-fitting throughout, making them easy to get in and out of. The industrial look of these suits changed the course of womenswear over the next several decades. Not only were women proving that they could do typically male dominated jobs, but that their wardrobe didn't have to be so restricting either. Rosie the Riveter , who donned a blue boiler suit, became a cultural symbol of this movement. What historical styles do you wear today?
