The truth of the matter is in the midst of a pandemic many have become creative with their finances. Others have pivoted and adjusted to a different ways of working. Others have simply thrived in a pandemic market. This has left some getting creative with their wardrobe. As true fashionistas we understand fashion history and the market. The industrial revolution gave rise to ready to ware clothing and then to what some have coined as disposable clothing. This type of clothing is not made to last. The construction is made for a short time and is often based on trends rather than style.
These type of shoppers are accustom to spending $30 dollars or less on a item lasting a few seasons or a few years at best. Its true those people who buy style rather than trend fashion will spend 6 even 10 times more than the people who buy disposable clothing. Rest assured their clothing does not go out of style because it is based on style rather than trends. And it last far longer than a few seasons or years because it is created or constructed to last.
As we do with many things, fashion included, we reflect on how effective and useful it is. Ready to wear and disposable fashion was suppose to make fashion more affordable. Nonetheless, as with many things ….sometimes you get what you pay for and that is it. Ask yourself: how much did I spend on this shirt? How long did it last? How much did you spend on that item (divided by) per year you wore it?
