Shane Mosley Jr. continues his resurgence.

The second-generation boxer powered his way to a stoppage win over Joshua Conley after six rounds. The bout was stopped in between rounds, when it was determined by the corner and the boxer himself that Conley could not continue their DAZN-aired middleweight contest Saturday evening at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Conley was already in trouble when a cut developed inside his left eye in the opening round. The wound never truly became a factor, as Mosley—the son of Hall of Fame former three-division champion Shane Mosley Sr.—was more committed to a body attack, particularly his right hand downstairs.

Mosley was caught with a left hook early in round three but controlled the rest of the action with power shots downstairs. The 32-year-old also put his height and reach advantage to use as he landed extended jabs and long right hands upstairs.

Mosley hurt Conley on several occasions in round six. Conley’s knees buckled when Mosley landed a right hand behind the ear. A steady power display followed though Mosley remained cautious of the counter left hook, which eventually landed for Conley late in the round.

It was a last gasp effort, as Conley required assistance just to make it back to his corner. It was decided between rounds that he was unable to continue, which provided his second straight knockout victory.

Conley fell to 17-6-1 (11KOs) with his third straight defeat. The 31-year-old accepted the fight on three weeks’ notice and reportedly had to shed more than 20 pounds. He was still nearly four pounds over the contracted limit at Friday’s weigh-in.

Mosley advanced to 21-4 (12KOs). The win was his third on the year and Golden Boy Promotions will now push for the second-generation boxer to land a title shot. He is ranked number-three at middleweight by the WBA, whose title is being held ransom by a grossly inactive Erislandy Lara. Golden Boy plans to attend the upcoming WBA convention later this month in Orland.

Mosley-Conley was part of a four-fight DAZN telecast. Headlining the Golden Boy Promotions-presented event, Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19KOs) attempts to rebound from a seventh-round knockout loss to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis (29-0. 27KOs) in April as he faces streaking Mexican contender Oscar Duarte (26-1-1, 21KOs). The bout takes place above the junior welterweight limit, as both boxers are at their respective career heaviest weights.
