Sure Shakur Stevenson has yet to compete in the lightweight division but that hasn’t stopped the former Olympic silver medalist from scouting his competition.

Officially, the 25-year-old pound-for-pound luminary ditched the super featherweight division after a failed attempt to make the 130-pound limit in his showdown against Robson Conceicao in 2022. With countless mouthwatering matchups standing before him, Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) plopped into a comfortable lush seat, pulled out his pen and paper, and took in the sights as both Frank Martin and Michel Rivera squared off.

Formally, the two battled it out in front of a fairly packed crowd at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas Nevada tlas month. Initially viewed as a 50/50 bout, Martin (17-0, 12 KOs) effortlessly steamrolled his man, dropping him in the seventh before cruising to a unanimous decision victory. As Stevenson continues to hammer out the specifics of his lightweight debut, he believes that, despite Martin looking stellar, he would have no issue facing him next.

“I promise you I will fight dude in a heartbeat,” said Stevenson on his social media account.

Martin though, 27, appears to have other ideas in mind. With the biggest win of his career tucked safely away, he’s hoping that a showdown against Devin Haney, the division's undisputed titlist, can become a reality.

If, however, Martin is unable to face him next, he recently revealed that he would welcome matchups against Isaac Cruz and Rolando “Rolly” Romero.

While Stevenson isn’t officially on his radar, that hasn’t stopped the former multi-divisional star from adding his two cents. Although Martin’s stock now sits at an all-time high, Stevenson remains steadfast in his belief that while Martin is a terrific fighter, if presented with a contract, he’ll sign his name on the dotted line. “Good fighter, nothing but respect. I’m like that, I promise y’all.”
