WBA mandatory challenger Rolly (14-0, 12 KOs) and WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Tank Davis (26-0, 24 KOs) are scheduled to headline in two months from now at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Rolly, 26, isn’t saying why he believes Tank is fixing to pull out of the fight, but it could be his recent comments on social media last week.
Tank revealed that his contract with Mayweather Promotions will be ending with his fight with Rolly on May 28th, and he feels that’s why they badly want him to face the “clown.” The cryptic message that Tank posted on social media left many boxing fans with the impression that he’s not going to re-sign with Mayweather Promotions after the Rolly fight. The 27-year-old Gervonta didn’t give any indication that he’ll pull put of the fight. He seemed to be saying that Mayweather Promotions wanted or needed him to fight Rolly while he still could. The reasons are obvious why they would want that fight.
It would be an in-house job, and they wouldn’t have to share the promotions with another company. If Rolly wins or looks good in losing, that’s a huge boost for Maywether Promotions.
“Bet all your money on Rolly. He’s going to knock Tank out, and we’re all going to get rich together, everybody gets rich, except the dumb a*** that bet on Tank,” said Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero on social media in predicting a stoppage win over Gervonta Davis on May 28th.
Rolly Is Predicting Tank Pulling Out “Those dumb a*** are going broke. I don’t box for money. In reality, I haven’t made s*** from boxing,” said Rolly. “I barely broke even with all the money I invested in boxing. “I am not fighting for money nor do I care about f*** money. I live good even without money. As you can tell, I have a house before Tank. I wouldn’t say I live a luxury life nor would I want to live a luxury life.
“I box because I want to be champion and I want to be the best fighter of my era. I give two f*** about making money in boxing because if you want to make money in boxing, you’re a dumb a**.
“I box because I want to be the best fighter, the greatest fighter of my generation. That’s the reason why I fight. As I said, I’m fighting Gervonta Davis to knock him f*** out and become a pay-per-view star because that’s going to be part of my legacy. “Tank does not want to fight. He’s trying to pull out already,” said Rolly. “He’s saying they’re trying to set him up. In the end, he’s going to try and find a way to pull put of the fight. “He’s mandatory, he can’t go anywhere else. If he pulls out, he’s screwed. The judges aren’t going to get a chance to judge because he’s going to get knocked out quick. The second he’s stupid, he’s going to get knocked out, which he’s stupid.
“How many fights do I have left in my contract? I don’t know and I don’t care because Mayweather Promotions and Al Haymon have treated me good. To me, I don’t care because I must stick with them no matter what.
“They invested in me, they made me [interim WBA 140-lb] champion, and they made me a pay-per-view star. So why am I going to go against them? Again, I don’t box for money. I box for legacy,” said Rolly about his overall goal in the sport.
