WBC junior welterweight champion Regis Prograis is getting ready for the first title defense of his second world title reign.

According to undisputed lightweight world champion Devin Haney, he called promoter Eddie Hearn to explore a potential fight with Prograis.

Last month, Haney picked up a tough twelve round unanimous decision win over Vasiliy Lomachenko. The bout was potentially the final appearance of Haney at 135-pounds.

Prograis' next fight takes place on June 17, when he defends against late replacement Danielito Zorrilla in a hometown return in New Orleans.

The once-beaten champion closely studied Haney's last fight and he's more than ready to face him in the next fight.

However, he also warns that Haney would suffer a punishing defeat - and that defeat would likely end inside the distance.

“I love that fight, Devin is in a tough spot, he got to fight somebody because a lot of people thought he lost against Loma, so he’s in a really, really tough spot right now, he’s like he could go up to 40, he could stay at 35, he could fight Loma again in a rematch Loma, or he got to fight Tank or he got to fight Shakur or he can come up to 40 and mess with the bigger guys up at 40, so I think he has to do something big. If he wants to fight me, I’m with it," Prograis said to BroBible. “I think I stop him, I really think I can hurt him, not disrespectful, you look at the shots that Loma hit him with and Loma is a 30 pounder and you know I’m a 40 pounder and I’ve been 40 pounder my whole career and I got a lot of knockouts, so if I hit him with those same shots, I feel like Imma hurt him”
