Swedish heavyweight contender Otto Wallin is now training in Houston, TX, with Ronnie Shields as his coach.

The 35-year-old Wallin, 27-3 (15 KOs), used to be trained by Joey Gamache. He turned pro in 2013 but it would be another six years, when he gave Tyson Fury an unexpectedly tough tussle over 12 rounds, before he really made his name.

Gamache initially based himself in Copenhagen to train Wallin but the heavyweight would eventually follow his coach to New York where he made the improvements required to secure his date with Fury in September 2019.

Four years later, in Turkey, victory over Murat Gassiev opened the doors to a fight against Anthony Joshua but Wallin was retired after five one-sided rounds. He would win one bout before losing to veteran Derek Chisora, on points over 12 rounds, in February 2025.

It was a huge setback for Wallin, and one that made him consider his future, but his manager Jolene Mizzone is hoping to arrange a return for his charge in August or September.
