Luis Alberto Lopez took care of business last month with a hard fought unanimous decision victory over Joet Gonzalez at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. The event served as a main event on ESPN. With the win, Lopez successfully defended his IBF featherweight title for the second time.

After the fight in an interview with BoxingScene.com’s Keith Idec, Lopez states that he would like to unify titles with WBO champion Robeisy “El Tren” Ramirez or welcome unified super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue to the division.

Inoue is slated to face the Philippines, Marlon Tapales in a December showdown to produce an undisputed super bantamweight champion. The Japanese superstar known as “The Monster” is widely regarded as a top 2 pound for pound fighter in the world and will enter the fight as a heavy betting favorite.

While he expects Inoue to win, he believes the hard hitting Tapales will make it a competitive fight.

“It's going to be a good fight. They are both very good fighters,” Lopez told BoxingScene.com “When Tapales did the stick and move vs MJ it worked. Now does MJ has Inoue’s power? I don't think so. But definitely I won't miss this one.”

MJ of course is Murodjon Akhmadaliev. Tapales upset him in April in San Antonio to capture the WBA and IBF titles.
