Hector Luis Garcia (15-0) picked up the biggest win of his career in February when he upset the previously unbeaten Chris Colbert (16-1) in Las Vegas. The bout topped a Showtime tripleheader.

Garcia entered the fight as high as a 50-1 to underdog in some sports books. He dropped Colbert in the 7th round in route to the dominant decision victory.

Next up from the Dominican Republic native is a showdown against Venezuela’s Roger Gutierrez on August 20th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Gutierrez’s WBA super featherweight title will be at stake in the Showtime televised showdown. Garcia is very confident that he will pick up another big victory.

“Chris Colbert was a rising star in American boxing but against me he couldn’t do anything. In that fight I learned that in this sport no one is untouchable and everything is possible. If Gutierrez is the WBA champion why can’t I be?” Garcia told BoxingScene.com.

If everything goes well against Gutierrez, Garcia envisions an even bigger fight to close out the year. He would like nothing more than to face WBC/WBO super featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson in a unification clash.

Stevenson became a unified champion in April when he dominated Oscar Valdez over 12 rounds. He is scheduled to return to the ring next month against Robson Conceicao in New Jersey.

“I’m focused on Gutierrez but after this fight and after I beat him my plan is to unify titles. I want to either unify titles with Shakur Stevenson or to take on Gervonta Davis,” said Garcia.
