Terri Harper will need a new opponent for her return to the ring March 12.
The former WBC junior lightweight champion made the decision to move to lightweight and was set to face American veteran Heather Hardy. But Hardy posted to Twitter on Wednesday that she is pulling out of the fight after injuring her wrist.
"I fell," Hardy tweeted. "Wrist is f---ed and Im out for March 12. I'm sorry Terri Harper. Hope we can reschedule."
The 40-year-old Hardy (22-2, 4 KO) last fought May 14, when she lost a unanimous decision to Jessica Camara. Before that, she lost to Amanda Serrano. Her last win came over Shelly Vincent in 2018.
Harper (11-1-1, 6 KO) is coming off her first career defeat, having been knocked out by Alycia Baumgardner in a WBC junior lightweight title fight. It will be the first time Harper has fought at lightweight since 2019, when she beat Claudia Andrea Lopez.
"Heartbroken for Heather, been there myself & know exactly how she's feeling," Harper tweeted. "Sending well wishes & speedy recovery."
Harper said she has "full trust" in Matchroom boxing promoter Eddie Hearn to find her a suitable replacement.
