Keyshawn Davis might have a soft-spoken disposition but when he’s pushed or feels disrespected, he turns into a whole different person.
Just a few days ago, Davis sat shoulder-to-shoulder with Teofimo Lopez. Although the stage was focused on the two taking on other fighters, the pair had a somewhat heated interaction.
For reasons that aren’t exactly clear, Davis felt disrespected by a previous interview where Lopez mentioned his name. They seemingly squashed their beef quietly, but Davis only forgives, he doesn’t forget.
Everything went according to plan for both fighters...somewhat. Davis had no trouble getting rid of Jose Pedraza, while Lopez struggled to a controversial victory against Jamaine Ortiz. Still, there’s no time for arguments in the comment section, a win is a win.
Now, Lopez (20-1, 13 KOs) is sitting back and hoping that he’ll line up a showdown against the likes of Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis, or Subriel Matias. Davis, on the other hand, badly wants to become a world champion. With that said, he wants his first championship reign to come against Lopez.
“We gonna see it. It’s already building,” Davis told Fight Hub TV. “I’m a get my title and we going to 140 baby.”
Davis (10-0, 7 KOs) already alludes to the obvious, he and Lopez compete in separate weight classes. But while an entire division seems like much, in reality, it’s a mere five pounds. Davis is confident that his power will travel. He’s also sure that his skills are on another level when juxtaposed with Lopez.
Will this arbitrary rivalry end with a showdown next? That’s an open-ended question that Davis doesn't have an answer to. He does, however, know exactly how it would play out if they did step into the ring with one another.
“I’m going for the stoppage with Teo. I’m not playing with him, six rounds.”
