At the Save Mart Arena, Fresno, California, Saturday over ESPN+ and ESPN Bob Arum (Top Rank) former 2012 Olympian, WBC and WBO Light Welterweight champion Jose “Jaguar” Carlos Ramirez stopped former IBF Lightweight champion Richard Commey in eleven rounds in a title eliminator. In the Co-Feature WBA World Minimum World champion Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada easily defeated WBC World Minimum World champion “Tiny” Tina Rupprecht to unify the titles. In the Main Event former 2012 Olympian, WBC and WBO Light Welter champ Jose “Jaguar” Carlos Ramirez, 28-1 (18), #140, of Avenal, CA, knocked out former IBF Light champ Richard “RC” Commey, 30-5-1 (27), #140, of Accra, GH, at 2:31 of the eleventh round of a 12. In the first round Ramirez had Commey against the ropes out landing him quite a bit with left hooks to the body.
In the second round Ramirez again had Commey on the ropes on the defense. In the third round Commey fought back better off the ropes but didn’t win the round. In the fourth rounds halfway point Commey fought well in the middle of the ring landing a pair of rights to the chin of Ramirez before returning to the ropes. In the fifth round Ramirez continued having Commey against the ropes. In the sixth rounds halfway point Commey landed his best punch a right on the chin of Ramirez. By the end of the round the fans were cheering “Jose, Jose” as he had Commey against the ropes.
Ramirez vs. Commey: Results & Hightlights In the seventh round both were throwing punches in bunches with Commey landing some solid lead rights on the chin of Ramirez. In the ninth round it was evident Commey is a lightweight in a super lightweight fight and not strong enough to hurt Ramirez. In the tenth round which should be the last being it isn’t a world title fight Commey is looking exhausted clinching too much. He ended the round landing a right on the chin of Ramirez. In the eleventh round Ramirez dropped Commey with left hook and on the back of the head as he was going down for an 8-count from Referee Jack Reiss. Commey got up and fought back until a body shot hurt him as he backed up and dropped to a knee taking the full count. In the Co-Feature WBA World Mini champ Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada, 24-0 (9), #104.2, of East L.A., CA, easily defeated WBC World Mini champ “Tiny” Tina Rupprecht, 12-1-1 (3), #104.8, of Augsburg, GER, over 10×2 rounds to unify the titles. In the first round Estrada went from orthodox to southpaw taking the first round. In the second rounds midway point Rupprecht landed a solid left hook to the chin of Estrada. Estrada came back to outland Rupprecht. Rounds three through five Estrada controlled outworking Rupprecht.

In the eighth round Estrada had Rupprecht on the defense though coming to her the entire round. In the ninth round Estrada continued out landing the much less experienced Rupprecht. In the tenth and final round it was one of the most competitive but still another round by Estrada. Referee was Edward Collantes. Scores were 100-90 by all 3 judges and this writer. Lightweight Raymond “Danger” Muratalla, 17-0 (14), #136.6, of Fonta, CA, knocked out Humberto Galindo, 14-3-1 (11), #136, of Riverside, California, MEX, at 2:40 of the ninth round of a 10. In the first two rounds Galindo controlled the fight forcing Muratalla to back up landing a left hook to the chin having him against the ropes. In the fourth rounds final minute Muratalla landed a left hook to the body dropping Galindo for an 8-count from Referee Gerard White. In the fifth round Galindo recovered well and again was the aggressor while Muratalla countered well enough to take the round.
In the sixth round Muratalla halfway through the round stopped backing up and kept it in the middle of the ring controlling the action. In the eighth round Muratalla controlled the round backing up Galindo who was on the defense. In the ninth round Muratalla landed a vicious left hook to the body dropping Galindo to a knee taking the full count.
Jose Ramirez wants world title shot next following stoppage win over Richard Commey Heavy southpaw Antonio “El Gigante” Mireles, 7-0 (6), #265.4, of Des Moines, IA, defeated Patrick “Majic” Mailata, 6-2 (3), #321.4, of Apia Samoa and South Auckland, NZ, over 6 sloppy rounds. In the first two rounds the taller Mireles dominated. In the third round a short right hurt Mireless followed by three more punches from Mailata and down went Mireles taking an 8-count from Referee Jack Reiss as the bell sounded. In the fourth and fifth rounds Mireles came back well to take the round out landing Mailata. In the sixth and final round Mireles had the exhausted Mailata on the receiving end in a sloppy six rounds.
Scores were 57-56 for Mailata and 57-56 twice for Mireless with this writer 57-56 for Milata. Super Light Ricardo Ruvalcaba, 8-0-1 (7), #140.8, of Ventura, CA, knocked out Marco Antonio Cardenas, 9-8-1 (4), #140.4, of Salem, OR, at 2:59 of round one of a 4. In the first round the taller used an effective jab controlling Cardenas. In the final half minute a left to the body from Ruvalcaba hurt Cardenas. Seconds later another left to the body and down went Cardenas into his own corner saying something to them taking the count of Referee Edward Collantes. Light Charlie Sheehy, 6-0 (4), #134.8, of Brisbane, CA, defeated Angel Rebollar, 6-2 (3), #133.4, of CA, over 6 rounds. In the first three rounds Rebollar was the aggressor in a close fight against Sheehy and had the edge. In the fourth rounds halfway point Rebollar landed a solid left hook to the chin of Sheehy. In the sixth and final round Sheehy drew blood from the nose of Rebollar who also had a bruse. Halfway through the round Sheehy was cut on the left eyebrow. Referee was Michael Margado.
Jose Ramirez vs. Richard Commey - preview for this Saturday, March 25th on ESPN Scores were 58-56 and 60-54 twice, this writer 57-57. Flyweight Jesse James Guerrero, 3-0-2 (3), #109, of Gilroy, CA, ended in majority draw with Eduardo “Dinamita” Alvarez, 0-2-1 (0), #108 ½, of Long Beach, CA, over 4 rounds. In the first round Alvarez out landed Guerrero swinging wildly but landing. A minute into the round a clash of heads caused a cut on the right eyebrow of Guerrero. Alvarez controlled the action. In the third round Guerrero came back well taking the round. In the fourth and final round it was close with Guerrero possibly evening the score. Referee was Gerard White In the opening bout Super Bantam southpaw Subaru Murata, 4-0 (4), #121 ½, of Tokyo, JAP, stopped Jose Negrete, 2-2 (2), #121 ½, of Hartford, CONN, at 1:47 of the first round of a 4. In the first rounds midway point a lead left from southpaw Murata on the chin and down went Negrete. He got up wobbling and the Referee Michael Margado waved it off without complaint.
